Old Post Office Theatre
Sunday Afternoon Concert. 4th in a series of concerts organised by The Potteries Blues Club to highlight important bands & solo artists from The Potteries’ rich seam of blues history & musicians.
THE BLUESHOUNDS are a soulful electric rhythm&blues band based in Stone (just to the south of The Potteries). Founded in 2004, they are still gigging in pubs, clubs & festivals in the Midlands & North West. This is a powerhouse quartet with guitarist Al Lee’s blistering guitar to the fore and an intriguing mix of blues pieces & original material. Their album “Blueshounds on your Trail” was released in 2015 & gives a good idea of what to expect at a rare appearance close to home.
Support spots are by jazz-blues guitarist & vocalist GAVIN SPRAY with a long history on The Potteries & Staffordshire blues & jazz scene. Currently mainly working solo with his own material but with major influences from various vistas of JAZZ (particularly ECM). Very much a musician’s musician & a guitarist with a fabulous feel, Gavin will be using an array of guitars including 2 of his renowned self-built baritone electro-acoustics.
